STORIES #7
Our Design Studio goes off grid
The G+F Office is nestled in the lush neighbourhood of Queen Mary Avenue in Floreal. Our building is thoughtfully designed to respond to the site’s conditions, incorporating passive sustainable design solutions.
The use of Naco louvers on the facade allows for customizable ventilation, natural lighting, and privacy, creating an environmentally and economically efficient solution.
Additionally, the layout of the site enabled us to preserve a beautiful camphor tree while orienting the main rooms to the west, providing shelter from the prevailing winter trade winds.
Most of the building is clad in metal sheeting, which offers excellent thermal insulation, requires minimal maintenance, and reduces the need for frequent repainting..
For years, we have integrated a rainwater harvesting system to reduce our reliance on the CWA network. Our commitment to sustainability continues to evolve, and we have recently completed the installation of a photovoltaic system that now supplies approximately 80% of our electricity needs, allowing our top floor design studio to be off-grid.
We are dedicated to continually improving our facilities toward a more sustainable model.
