Amba Filaos

Amba Filaos is a beach restaurant and toilet facility serving Le Morne Public Beach. In its early stages, the project drew inspiration from the tropical architecture of renowned Australian architects like Troppo and Richard Leplastrier. This design presented an opportunity to experiment with a twisted skillion metal roof. A skillion roof, also called single-pitch roof, is characterized by a single, sloping plane that extends from one side of the building to the other, offering a bold, minimalist design compared to traditional multi-pitched roofs. To further enhance the project’s identity, round timber structures were incorporated, adding a distinctive Mauritian touch to the overall aesthetic.
